San Pedro Overlook, New Mexico
This building will be the primary residence of Susan Bruketta and Skip Pascoe. Its main house and detached guesthouse (currently a recording studio) are intended to accommodate a lifestyle of casual living and entertaining. The design takes advantage of the outdoor living potential of the area with 1,356 sf of southern veranda and dining patio space and a spacious Ortiz Mountain patio to the northeast. The home wanders along the brow of a hill, taking advantage of solar gain and the spectacular views. Portions of the building act as wind buffering elements that create protected zones for year round enjoyment of outdoor spaces. The plan embraces a central courtyard that is intended as a celebration of the local flora. Materials and colors are taken directly from the site; stucco colors and site stone elements foster a physical integration with the landscape.
