LEED™ Silver Certified
Albuquerque, New Mexico
edi was the LEED™ consultant for this 32,000 square foot office building in Albuquerque, NM. edi worked closely with the client, contractor and design team to provide an environment that met the programmatic needs, had a low impact on the environment and provided a healthy workplace for employees. Located in the high desert of the southwest where water is always a concern, the building decreased interior water consumption by nearly 60% through the careful selection of low-flow fixtures. Site design included a storm water retention pond to prevent runoff and provide water to the highly efficient irrigation system.
Daylighting was accomplished through the use of clerestories and windows throughout the main work areas. Windows on the south and west side are protected from glare through the use of exterior sunshades. Windows were minimized on the north and east sides to reduce heat loss. The careful design and selection of HVAC systems achieved a 31% savings in energy costs. Interior finishes and furnishings were chosen with employee health in mind; all are durable, sustainable and low in toxicity.
